Once upon a time there was a young Philadelphia girl who ran off to Hollywood to become a star. She realised her dream and starred in many popular movies, including ‘To Catch a Thief’ with Cary Grant and ‘High Society’ with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. Her beauty and fame were soon recognised by a prince of a faraway land who, threatened with bankruptcy, needed to raise his profile and increase his purse. He married the young girl in 1956 and they lived happily for 26 years until one day, while driving along the coastal road of Cap d’Ail, she had a car accident and died. The prince was Rainier III of Monaco and the princess was Grace Kelly.
Once upon a time there was a talented ballerina who danced for king and queens all over Europe. But her dreams were shattered when in 1913 and her two young children were sadly drowned in the river Seine in Paris, and her later separation from her toyboy Russian husband. She fled from her former life and started a small dance studio in Nice, soon becoming a popular resident in the coastal town. After seeing a gleaming Amilcar racing car on the promenade she arranged for a drive in one. Tragically, her long, flowing scarf became entangled in one of the wheels and she died instantly from a broken neck. Despite her popularity, the Paris funeral of Isadora Duncan was not well attended.
